In recent years, driven by increasing domestic market demand and the need for self-reliance brought about by the international situation, domestic machine tool manufacturers have accelerated their penetration into the mid-to-high-end market through product performance improvements. With the continuous improvement of CNC technology in machine tools and policy guidance, the CNC process of machine tools will continue to accelerate, leading to a growing domestic demand for electric spindles, and the Chinese electric spindle market will be in a period of rapid development.

From 2021 to 2023, the scale of China's CNC machine tool industry continued to grow, reaching 376 billion yuan, 382.5 billion yuan, and 401.6 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of 15.3%, 1.7%, and 5%. Domestic CNC metal-cutting machine tools have continued to show strong growth in recent years. According to the statistics of large-scale enterprises released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of metal-cutting machine tools in the first half of 2024 reached 333,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. In the first half of 2024, overall imports of metalworking machine tools saw a significant decrease, while exports saw a slight increase, maintaining a trade surplus.

The top five imported types of metalworking machine tools were machining centers, grinding machines, special processing machine tools, gear processing machine tools, and lathes, with import values of US$910 million, US$440 million, US$380 million, US$270 million, and US$260 million respectively, accounting for 33.2%, 16%, 14%, 9.9%, and 9.7% respectively. Statistical analysis shows that the import value of metalworking machine tools remains substantial, especially for machining centers. Within a certain timeframe, there will be strong market demand and import substitution needs for electric spindles used in machining centers, grinding, and turning.
